Included is a breakfast of muffins, cereals and oatmeal, fruit, yogurts, sweet breads, coffee, tea and juice. Manteo NC is a quaint town on Roanoke Island where visitors can experience the rich history, resilience, pioneering spirit and culture of the Outer Banks from museums to The Lost Colony, the world’s first and longest running outdoor symphonic drama. Manteo is named for a Native American Indian named Manteo, of the Croatan. Manteo had been "civilized" by the English. Manteo and another native, Manteo, were liaisons between the settlers and the Indians. Manteo, Lord of Roanoke, was the first Native American to receive a title of nobility. The first English child born in America in 1587 to Ananias Dare and Elinor White Dare.From the north: Take 64E to 664E down to the Norfolk area, making sure you go through the new Monitor-Merrimack Tunnel. Continue on 64E, following the signs to the Outer Banks. You'll turn onto 168S around the Chesapeake area, then that will become 158S in North Carolina. Follow 158S onto the Outer Banks at Kitty Hawk (at this point, you'll also see 158 called either the Bypass or Virginia Dare Highway). Continue down the Bypass through Nags Head then see the signs directing you to Manteo. Once in Manteo, turn right at Budleigh Street (you'll see a Wachovia Bank on your left). Come down two blocks, and you'll see Cameron House on your right.

From the south: Take either the Swan Quarter or Cedar Island toll ferry to Ocracoke (link to ferry schedule here). Take the free ferry from Ocracoke to Hatteras Island. Follow Hwy. 12 north to Nags Head, then follow the sign directing you to the left to Manteo. In Manteo, turn right at Budleigh Street (see the Wachovia Bank on your left). Come down two block to Cameron House, which is on your right.

From the west: Follow 64E straight onto Roanoke Island. Come over the new bridge and turn left at the light toward Manteo. Turn right at Budleigh Street, whcih is the third light (see the Wachovia Bank on yourleft). Come down two blocks to Cameron House, on your right.

From the east: You can only boat in from this direction! Use the Intracoastal Waterway or come through Oregon Inlet from the Atlantic. When you dock in at Manteo, you're about a block from the inn.

Very Important: When you arrive at the inn to check in you'll need to come to the front door. On the left side of the door you'll find the door phone. Push the button and we'll answer and welcome you in. Since our office is adjacent to the inn and not in the building itself, ringing the door phone lets us know you have arrived.
